I started using Fitbit Blaze in November 2017. The moment I got the new watch I realised that it the watch is not officially compatible with my Oneplus 5T. I didn’t know this before buying the watch. After struggling a lot for a few days and browsing through online forums for solutions I finally found one and it has been working really for more than 4 months for me now.
After finishing up the pairing process I instantly noticed the following:
- I could not change the clock theme from app.
- I could not connect watch with GPS on my phone for running.
- Sync used to fail a lot of times
- I could not enable call and sms notifications.

Solution is to disable battery optimization for FitBit App (As simple as that). You can do this by Settings->Battery->Battery Optimisation ->Fitbit and then choose “Don’t optmise” and that’s it. Reboot your phone and enjoy 🙂
This solution is not specific to just Oneplus 5T. This might work out on other android phones as well which are not officially supported by Fitbit.
UPDATE: March 2019
After upgrading to Android 9 fitbit sync has just stopped working. I haven’t been able to fix the issue.
